Boyd Modern Tartan/Dean Castle Mug with red trim

This unique design is the newest arrival to our Scottish mug range!

There is a fascinating history of the Boyds, dating back to as early as 1205.

After the defeat and execution of William Wallace in 1305, Sir Robert Boyd (d. 1296) became one of the first supporters of Robert the Bruce. Robert then granted lands in Kilmarnock and around Ayrshire to Sir Robert Boyd as the ancestor of the earls of Kilmarnock.

We are privileged to live in beautiful Ayrshire and within a couple of miles of the Dean Castle and Country Park in Kilmarnock, ancestral home & stronghold of the Boyds, and built around 1350 by Sir Thomas Boyd.

Nowadays, descendants of the Boyd family can be found all across the globe, continuing the legacy of the Boyd family name.

Our 11-ounce white ceramic mugs have a bright glossy finish with a lovely red coloured handle and interior, with an image of the Dean Castle featured on a backdrop of the Boyd modern tartan. The text below this reads

"Dean Castle...Ancestral home of the Boyds"

We print our mugs using a sublimation process here in our workshop.

We have a lovely metal heart-shaped keyring with the same design (see separate listing) and matching coasters will be available soon....

The mugs have been independently tested for dishwasher-proof (3500 cycles minimum), microwave use and food safety - All certified by SGS. They are packaged in a secure, smash-proof box.
